I am an avid Star Trek fan, not quite a Trekie, but I watched most of the series and almost all of the movies. In the Star Trek Generation series, at the the opening credit at beginning of each episode, Captain Jean-Luc Picard always said and I think that’s the most famous Star Trek quote of all time:
Space, the final frontier. These are the voyages of the Starship Enterprise. Its continuing mission: to explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilizations, to boldly go where no one has gone before!
And that’s how I choose my holiday destinations, and “adventure in strange new ‘worlds’….” well not exactly new worlds and certainly not “where no one has gone before” like Captain Jean-Luc Picard, but it’s adventurous and exotic to me or at least it’s an action holiday for my husband and I. Like most photography enthusiasts I like the adventure to seek out new scenery for my photography portfolio, either new landscapes or the real tops of, wildlife photography – the picture above with cheetahs looking for their prey, shows it all, a daily adventure on the play ground of the popular “big five” .
Yet it’s not only about the big five, there are others that are part of the package:

These young impala testing their testosterone…also part of the show

Young Jackals waiting anxiously for “mummy and daddy” to come home…

Getting up close and … with elephants

But then it seems that we are getting too close and encroaching their territory, as this elephant started trumpeting and charging our car…

King or rather queen of the jungle – just another close encounter with lions... aren’t they cute and cuddly?
I guess Africa tops it all, exotic wildlife, gorgeous landscape and most of all the adventure was so different compared to visiting urban places for a street photography experience.

Daily scenery, the landscape photographs never fail.
Stunning beyond words!👍Semoga kesampaian ikutan safari kayak gini.. Nice posting, Nina! Always look forward to reading your extraordinary adventure..

What a stunning collection of photos of the animals in Africa. Looks like they didn’t mind you at all taking photos. WIth the exception of the impala locking horns, I think the animals look bored 😀 Just another day in Africa 🙂 Hope you had a good trip, Nin.

Actually, weather in Tanzania and Kenya was very pleasant. Mid day maybe a bit too warm but other than that temperature was around 14-24 d Centigrade. As for the animal, they may look friendly, but….

Yes, the same thing with me, whenever I went thru my photographs again it made me wants to go back there again… however, thos photos were taken when I join a photography tour. normal tour will not get you that close; and most importantly, you need to invest to a good lens that attaches to a powerful dslr camera… 😦

Drop dead gorgeous, Nin. I once travelled through East Africa in a VW Bug. Oh that I would have had a decent camera then. As for Star Trek, I was hooked on the first TV series. “Beam me up Scotty.” 🙂 –Curt

Stunningly beautiful photos. Africa is way high up on my bucket list but Diane gives me heck every time I mention it since she thinks we will b=never be able to afford a great trip (even though I’m the financial person and I know we can easily spare one expensive vacation per year despite no longer having employment income so young). Awesome post; Glad you made it there; Can you tell me exactly where you visited?

This is absolutely incredible! My uncle use to have pictures like this from his living in Africa.
I can’t believe your first picture though! How lucky where you to get all three of them on there!
